This year's theme is "Strength in Diversity"

“…We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another…” (49:13)

Our community is strengthened by our diversity, and when we come together, we feel secure enough to share our many differing sexual orientations and gender identities. Nurturing diversity gives our community strength; it allows us to see that we are not alone, and that there are many individuals walking similar paths. Also within our community are differences, some visible and some unseen. We are diverse in our religious understanding and practice, our ethnicity and race, our geography and family experience. This year our Retreat explores unseen diversity in our community to learn from each unique person and to strengthen our collective voice.

Over the course of our time together, there will be opportunities to explore this theme through workshops, plenaries, caucuses and more. In addition to these important aspects of programming, there will also be opportunities for more quiet reflection, time in a beautiful natural environment and art-making space.

Another significant opportunity in the program, for those interested, is the chance to pray together in a gender-equal, non-denominational, loving space. All are encouraged to lead if they would like. Each year this space has been immensely healing for many. Various expressions of dhikr ritual will also take place over the weekend.

A word about self-care

Attending the Retreat can be a powerful, fun and intense experience, especially if this is your first time attending. It is very important to take care of yourself during this time. We will talk more about that and the support available on-site, but please take some time to consider what self-care means for you and what that may look like in the Retreat setting.
